Take a look at our video of the EEF training facility project
Intex Projects recently completed the creation of EEF’s new training facility in the Hub, Aston Birmingham. The project involved the re-configuration of a 4000m2 warehouse unit to incorporate new mezzanine floor levels for offices, classrooms and warehouse floor areas for machine centres and workshops.
The result is a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide high quality training on the use of machinery and equipment commonly found in manufacturing and engineering environments.

We have moved!
After 10 great years in Royal Leamington Spa, we have now moved into our new premises at Hatton Technology Park near Warwick.
Over the last 12 years we’ve enjoyed sustained continued growth, working hard to earn our success and reputation in the commercial fit out industry. More recently, we’ve increased the size of our contracts, administration and finance teams, and invested in a new bespoke software system and mobile technology to improve communication and efficiency.
Our decision to move to new premises follows year on year growth. We decided to choose a period property again, and we are delighted with our new premises in the Courtyard at Hatton Technology Park. The character offices are in a beautiful rural setting (with picnic benches, BBQ and duck pond!), but they also provide easy access to the motorway and railway networks, and the latest generation of high speed broadband.
Hatton Technology Park is owned by a descendant of Sir Richard Arkwright, the inventor of the Spinning Jenny, a key development in the industrialization of weaving during the early Industrial Revolution.
We look forward to welcoming our clients and suppliers to our new location!
Intex are back in the Priory!
In 2014 we were pleased to report that we were working for the Priory Group to create The Priory Clinic London, the first and flagship clinic in the Priory Groups’ outpatient strategy to develop a national network of clinics to serve a wide range of people rather than just the rich and famous. The Wellbeing Centres offer expert Priory treatment with the flexibility of convenient outpatient appointments in central locations.
Following the success of the Fenchurch Street project, Intex have continued to work for the Priory Group to fit out their Wellbeing Clinics in Birmingham, Canterbury and Southampton. We have recently completed the fit out of their newest clinic in Cheshire at The Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal.
Intex awarded phased fit-out project for global technology provider
Intex have been instructed to carry out the fit out of SSP’s regional head-quarters at Birmingham Business Park. SSP is a global provider of technology systems and solutions to the insurance industry, including the largest market share of UK e-trading.
Set within 148 acres of mature parkland, Birmingham Business Park is the most established out-of-town office park in the Midlands. This is our third project on the park. Works started on the £2million phased project earlier this month and will run over several months, completing in March 2017.
Intex appointed by EEF to create new Training Academy
Work on the Burnaston project for car giant Toyota is now drawing to a close and at £2.1m was Intex’s largest project to date. This has now been surpassed by a £3m project involving another Training Academy – this time for EEF, the largest sectoral employers' organisation in the UK.
EEF’s new facility in the Hub, near its existing facility in Birmingham, will allow the centre to train 400 young people from 80 employers annually. The new facility will house a wide range of areas devoted to developing technological skills, including robotics, electronics and rapid prototyping. It will boast an industry standard CAD (computer aided design) suite, an automated factory and an industry standard tool room. The new centre will also host EEF’s Leadership Institute and Manufacturing Academy.
Works are well underway and the project is due to be completed in September.
Intex appointed by car manufacturing giant
2016 has got off to a flying start for Intex Projects, who have been awarded a major project for car manufacturing giant Toyota. The Japanese car firm is investing £100 million in their Burnaston manufacturing plant in Derby, creating 1,500 extra jobs.
Intex Projects have been appointed to design, fit out and build a new training academy for the Toyota/Lexus brand at Burnaston, bringing in One Creative Environments to assist with the design and specifications of this £1.7 million project.
The result will be a world-class training academy which incorporates workshops, training rooms, break out and bistro areas, and driving showrooms. The project, which started last month, is due to be completed in early summer.

Intex Projects were appointed for the fit out project after out-shining the competition and achieving high scores across all of Alpro’s selection criteria.
The eco-friendly and inspirational scheme reflects Alpro’s vision for a planet-friendly and sustainable environment, and includes a moss wall and silver birch tree screening. The eco-friendly offices will also be high spec and contemporary and will include a business lounge and a demonstration kitchen.
Intex’s success in Birmingham continues!
Intex Projects is working in conjunction with Trebor Developments to install new furniture, bespoke joinery and specialist fittings at Assay Office’s new offices on Moreton Street in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.
The Birmingham Assay Office, one of the four assay offices in the United Kingdom, is located in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham. Assay Office Birmingham was founded in 1773 to provide assaying and hallmarking of precious metal items. Now the largest Assay Office in the world, the historical hallmarking centre has moved out of the Victorian building on Newhall Street where it had been based since 1877 into new purpose-built premises on Moreton Street.
Earlier in the year we were working for the Priory Group to create The Priory Clinic London, the first and flagship clinic in the Priory Groups’ outpatient strategy to develop a national network of clinics to serve a wide range of people rather than just the rich and famous. Following the success of the London project and another in Canterbury, Intex were appointed by Priory Group to fit out their Wellbeing Clinic in Edmund Street in Birmingham city centre, and we will shortly be making a start on their Southampton Clinic.
Coast 2 Coast Challenge
Intex Projects’ Contracts Manager Richard Freeman saddled up for a grueling coast to coast bike ride from Aberystwyth to Great Yarmouth over the Easter weekend to raise money for cancer charity Delete Blood Cancer UK.
Donations have been flooding in for Team C2C since they hit the finish line and the total of donations now stands at a massive total of over £17k!
For many blood cancer patients a blood stem cell donation is their only chance of survival, but many patients in the UK never find the lifesaving blood stem cell donor match they need. If you would like to help Richard raise money for this great cause, go to www.facebook.com/C2CDBCUK for more information. Thank you for your support!
Richard (far right) is seen here with his team celebrating reaching the finish line at Great Yarmouth.

Intex Projects are on a roll!
Where does the time go? We’re already into spring and we’ve been so busy we’ve not had time to update our website this year, so here’s a belated ‘Happy New Year’ to all our clients and suppliers!
2014 was a great year for us, with our best turnover yet of £7.5 million and increases in staff numbers in several areas of the business - Contracts Management, Business Administration and Site Management. And we have invested in new technology to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
Intex Projects have also had a really strong start to 2015. In the first 2 months of our financial year we had a 50% increase in turnover on the same 2 months of last year.
We’re on site across the country from Kent to Manchester with several new projects underway for March. Projects include White Stuff’s head office in London and the refurbishment of a prominent office building on Birmingham Business Park.
Intex check into the Priory!
Probably best known for treating celebrities particularly for drug & alcohol addiction at the Priory Hospital Roehampton, the Priory Group is an independent provider of mental health care and specialist education facilities in the UK.
Forget re-hab - we’re more re-fit. It may not be as glamourous, but we’re happy to be working for the Priory Group carrying out a fit out project on Fenchurch Street to create a new clinic. The Priory Clinic London is the first and flagship clinic in the Priory’s’ outpatient strategy to develop a national network of clinics to serve a wide range of people rather than just the rich and famous.

Busy, busy, busy!
Well, schools may be out for summer next week but there’s no letting up here at Intex – the team is as busy as ever! Despite 2013 being our busiest year so far, growth has continued at a steady pace over the first half of this year.
Over the past few months we have carried out numerous Buildbase, Plumbase and Bohen showroom refurbishments across the UK for Grafton Group. In Britain, Grafton operates the third largest builders merchanting business and is among the top four plumbers merchanting businesses We have just started a 10 week project at Buildbase in High Wycombe - our tenth for Grafton.
In the Birmingham area, we’ve been working on our first project for SCC, Europe’s largest independent technology solutions provider, on a 4 month office refurbishment project in Tysley. Business Premises Renovation Allowance
The Business Premises Renovation Allowance (BPRA) is a special capital allowances scheme to encourage the conversion and renovation of empty business properties in specified assisted areas (i.e. deprived areas in the UK).
The use of the BPRA provides for a 100% tax deduction on the capital costs a business incurs in converting, renovating or repairing empty business premises that have been vacant for at least a year, in order to bring them back into business use. The relief is available to individuals and partnerships as well as companies.
BPRA was originally intended to come to an end in April 2012 but has been extended to 31 March 2017 for corporation tax purposes and 5 April 2017 for income tax purposes.
The cap on the amount of expenditure that may qualify for BPRA is £20 million per single investment project. Individuals and companies which incur the capital expenditure and hold a relevant interest in the building can claim the 100% relief and deduct it from their trading profits.
Huge tax savings to be made as Annual Investment Allowance doubles to £1/2 million!
Have you heard that the Annual Investment Allowance, which increased last year from £25k to £250k, doubled in April to £500k?
Up to £875k could be offset against taxable profits on all eligible purchases made between April 2014 and December 2015.*
This increase is only valid until the end of next year as the AIA is set to reduce again to £25k from 1st January 2016.
If you’re planning a refurbishment or fit out project that includes new heating systems, air conditioning, lifts, lighting or office furniture, you could be entitled to some attractive tax savings. Based on the current corporate tax rate of 20% Small Profit Rate (21% Main Rate), business owners can save up to 20p or 21p respectively on every £1 they spend on items that qualify for the Annual Investment Allowance.
If you’re considering investing in a project, it’s worth timing it to take advantage of this considerable tax saving. However big or small your budget, we can help. Get in touch with us on 01926 424656.
*It is important to note that only the expenditure incurred after the rate change will be covered by the new higher allowance. Equipment purchased will only qualify if it is unused and not second hand equipment. We advise you to seek guidance from your Accountant to ensure eligibility against the AIA prior to expenditure. £500k 1 April 2014 – 31st March 2015 and £375k 1st April to 31st December 2015.
It’s a Knockout!
Intex Projects have started office alterations for their accountants Pentlands with a very hands-on approach from Managing Director Elinor Perry. Elinor donned hard hat and PPE before helping out with the demolition of an internal wall under the guidance of Site Manager Sam Woodward.
In return for being allowed to wield the hammer Elinor is very kindly keeping the site workers going with cakes and refreshments!
Elinor is seen here receiving sound advice from Sam before getting stuck in!
Where does the time go? Intex Projects is officially 10 years old this month!
Over the last decade we’ve enjoyed sustained continued growth and we’ve survived the recession. The Intex Team have worked hard to deliver over 450 projects, earning us our success and valued reputation in the commercial fit out industry.
2014 has already got off to a flying start following what was our most successful year so far, with several new projects now underway. These include 2 Plumbase industrial projects for Grafton (our eighth and ninth projects for them), our second office refurbishment project for Health Trust Europe in Birmingham, and our fifth project at Boundary House in London for Vail Williams.
Following our refurbishments at the Bullring Shopping Centre in Birmingham, we are working again with Workman at the Highcross Shopping Centre in Leicester for retail property developer/managers Hammerson. We are also carrying out the refurbishment of a Birmingham business unit for Carl Zeiss, the international optics and opto-electronics company.
We’d like to say a big ‘Thank you!’ to all our clients and suppliers for supporting us over the past 10 years, and we look forward to continuing to work with you all over the next 10 years!
Anyone for cake?
On the Up! London Project is the icing on the [Christmas] cake for year of growth at Intex!
With only a few weeks to go until Christmas, the Intex Team aren’t seeing any signs of work slowing down as the year draws to a close. In fact, this year we’ve delivered a record number of projects and latest figures show that our turnover for 2013 is a 60% increase on 2012 and is our highest so far in 10 years of trading.
This year over 70% of our projects have been repeat business for existing clients, including Laser UK, PM Group, Picton, Berrymans Lace Mawer, Lambert Smith Hampton, CS2 Ltd, and Paragon Group, to name just a few!
And our workload isn’t the only thing to have increased this year - so too has the Intex Team, with the addition of a further Contracts Manager and a Health & Safety Advisor to ensure we continue delivering quality projects to all our Clients.
As for 2014, we’re looking forward to continued growth and development following the award of several new contracts, including a roll out of showroom refurbishments for Grafton Group in 7 locations across the UK. We have also just started a project at Berkeley Square House in London, so we’ve a lot to get done before we hang up our Christmas stockings!
Opening of PM Group's Headquarters
Intex Projects Director Charles Wolverson attended the recent opening of the PM Group's headquarters at Trinity Park in Birmingham. The event, which was also a celebration of PM Group's 40th anniversary, was opened by Ireland and Leicester Tigers rugby legend Geordan Murphy.
After fitting out 9,000 sq feet of PM’s office last year, we were asked to fit out the remaining floor as PM Group expanded into a further 4,000 sq feet. The work was completed within a very tight timescale in readiness for the company's significant 40th year milestone celebration.
Charles Wolverson is pictured here with Geordan Murphy at the opening.
We must be mad, but Intex Projects joined forces with Vescom to take part in the ‘Wolf Run’ event earlier this month.
The Wolf Run is Wild Running - a combination of three kinds of off-road running: mud, trail and obstacle. It’s a hardcore 10k run across raw natural terrain, including open ground, woodland, lakes & thick mud.
Well, we did it! It was great fun and I have to say it was probably the muddiest any of us have ever got for the sake of a good cause!
Pictured is our ‘pack’ - Rebecca Hawley of Vescom (right) and Catherine Goodyear of Intex Projects with fellow Wolf Runner Simon Cox.

Intex Team Away Day
Earlier this month the Intex Projects team enjoyed a Company ‘Away Day’ at The Warwickshire Golf & Country Club near Warwick.
Taking time out from the workplace and our busy schedules, we spent an inspiring and motivational day focusing on our company vision and goals for the future, and discussing ways in which we can enhance efficiency, service and quality. The event provided the ideal forum for sharing ideas and improving teamwork and agreeing positive changes to our business.
Here we are taking a break enjoying the Great British summer at The Warwickshire Golf & Country Club!
These boots are made for walking!
Intex are carrying out the fit out of the new offices and warehouse facility for Grenson, a powerful brand in the shoe industry who produce hand-made leather shoes.
The project involves moving Grenson out of the antiquated Victorian premises they have occupied since 1895 into new state of the art premises. Working alongside CS2, we are transforming standard industrial units and offices into a top class showroom, offices and production facility, using quality finishes including solid wood flooring and bespoke joinery whilst incorporating some the original features from the Victorian factory such as doors and brickwork.
"Green & Son" which became “Grenson”, was founded in 1866 by William Green and was the first factory in the world to use the Goodyear welt construction method for manufacturing gentlemen's shoes. Grenson has been transformed over the last 3 years since it was purchased by Tim Little, whose company Tim Little Shoes on the Kings Road makes bespoke footwear for clients including celebrities Robbie Williams, Tina Turner, Ant and Dec, Rod Stewart, and Sir Elton John.
Busy, busy, busy!
This spring we’ve been so busy we’ve not even had time to update our website! Over the last couple of months we’ve secured in excess of £1millon new projects and we’re set to have one of our busiest years ever.
We’re currently working on numerous sites across the UK, including our third fit out project at Black Country House in Oldbury, working with Wakemans again on behalf of Walsall based developers Goold Estates. Other Midlands projects include Nehemiah Housing in Great Barr; Pleck Road apartments in Walsall; Windsor House and Phoenix House in Northampton; and Swallow House in Birmingham for Salmon Properties.

Intex secure another Bullring project
The Bullring is one of the largest city centre shopping malls, located in Birmingham City centre. In summer 2012 Intex Projects carried out the refreshment of the Lower West Mall WCs at the Bullring. Since then we have completed a further two projects at this iconic shopping centre.
The toilets had not been changed since the new Bullring centre opened in 2003, and although they have stood the test of time well, these ‘refresh’ projects have been designed to brighten them up.
We will shortly be starting on Phase Two – the WCs at Moor Street. Work on this second phase is due to be completed in April.
2013 gets off to a flying start for Intex Projects!
2012 was a very busy year for the Intex team with enquiry levels up and an increase in turnover on the previous year. We saw the year out with the successful completion of a number of projects in London (watch out for the 1 Chancery Lane case study coming soon) and we’ve just finished the £1/2 million fit out of Pembroke House in Castle Donington (case study for this project to follow too).
2013 has got off to a flying start. We’re currently on site in Coventry, working with Lambert Smith Hampton on a fit out project for Schindler Group, the leading global provider of elevators and escalators. Other projects include the refurbishment of builders merchant Selco’s headquarters in Wythall, Apex Business Park in Nottingham, and the refurbishment of Union Chambers in Birmingham on behalf of Aberdeen Asset Management and working in conjunction with NCS Property Consultants.
In February we start a project for Frontier Agriculture, the UK's leading crop inputs and grain marketing company. Working alongside CS2 and Matchbox Architects, the works involve the conversion of an existing 2 storey retail unit into new offices for Frontier Agriculture in Sandy, Bedfordshire.
Next month we will also be working again with Paragon, carrying out refurbishment works at their offices in Homer Road, Solihull. This will be our 12th instruction from this leading mortgage provider.

Armed with a box of materials and a blank canvas, each team came up with some very creative designs. Rebecca is pictured here (second from the right) armed with a glue gun, with her team members (left to right) Becky Bennett of Orangebox, Gill Torres of Construction Pool, Jenny Hill of Ingo Interiors and Philip Handley of Johnson Tiles, with their fabulous creation “Exposed” .

Intex carrying out refurbishment at the Bullring
The Bullring is one of the largest city centre shopping malls, located in Birmingham City centre. Following the destruction of the old 1960s mall, the 40 acre site was developed and the modern Bullring was opened in 2003.
Intex Projects are on site carrying out the complete refurbishment of the WCs at the Bullring. Work started on the 9 week project last month and is on track to be completed in June.
Intex Site Manager nominated for Pride of Britain Award
In July we reported how Intex Projects’ Site Manager Sam Woodward was hailed as a ‘have-a-go-hero. Sam, who had been managing the refurbishment of Wellesley House in Leicester, when he witnessed the mugging of an 82 year old woman, gave chase on the assailant and restrained him until the police arrived.
Thanks to Sam, 31 year old Benjamin Brown has been jailed for five years for this assault and a string of other offences at Leicester Crown Court.
Since the story of Sam's heroics and Brown’s recent conviction broke recently, Sam has been in several national and regional newspapers, appeared on Radio WM and has also been nominated for a Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Award.
Sam told papers that he wasn’t being brave or a hero - but that he was just doing what he would hope anyone would do. "There wasn't time to think about whether or not he had a weapon or what he might do to me," he said. "I would hope that anyone reading this would do the same to help a vulnerable old lady in need - because it would be a sad reflection on society if they wouldn't."
Happy New Year!
2011 finished on a busy note for us and 2012 has got off to a busy start too with current projects totalling over £1m. We are working again with Paragon, carrying out refurbishment works at their offices in Homer Road, Solihull, and again for Rockspring on another fit out project in Bristol.

Sam, who has been managing the refurbishment project at Wellesley House in Leicester, on Tuesday 12th July witnessed an elderly woman fall to the ground after apparently being mugged. Sam gave chase and caught the suspect, keeping him in an arm-lock until the police arrived 10 minutes later.
"It was a spur of the moment thing and I just acted on instinct," he said. "She asked if she could go home but I told her she should wait for the police to get there," he said. "She was so shaken up." Sam convinced the victim, who is in her 80’s, to wait until help arrived.
Sam has been to visit her in hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.
A 31-year-old man has appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court.
Sam's heroic act was photographed by an eyewitness and the image was published on the front page of the Mercury on Wednesday. "I would do it again and I hope there are other people who would do the same for somebody in my family."
